Cannot find Encrypt/Decrypt Database with no database open due to moved.
Cause:
The 'Encrypt/Decrypt Database' command has been moved to the 'Security' submenu of the 'Tools' menu.
Solution:
To encrypt or decrypt a database in Access 7.0, use the 'Security' command under the 'Tools' menu, select 'Encrypt/Decrypt Database...', specify the database to encrypt or decrypt and type a name for the new version, and click 'Save'.
NOTE: All open databases must be closed to display 'Encrypt/Decrypt Database...' on the 'Security' menu. Otherwise, different choices are shown, and 'Encrypt/Decrypt Database...' is unavailable..
1) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Security'. (A submenu appears.)
2) Select 'Encrypt/Decrypt Database...'. (The Encrypt/Decrypt Database dialog box appears.)
3) Select the drive and/or folder containing the database to encrypt or decrypt from the 'Look in' drop-down list box.
4) Select the database to encrypt or decrypt from the 'Look in' list box.
Look in list box
5) Click 'OK'. (The Encrypt Database As or Decrypt Database As dialog box appears, depending on whether the selected database is already encrypted or not.)
6) Type a name for the encrypted or decrypted copy of the database in the 'File name' box.
7) Click 'Save'. (Access creates an additional encrypted or decrypted copy of the database.)
NOTE: If the user forgets whether a database needs to be encrypted or decrypted, Access knows the current status of the file and prompts the user with the correct dialog box (either the 'Encrypt Database As' or the 'Decrypt Database As' dialog box).
